5 cashflow boosting activities

When revenue’s down, the money’s usually already in your business

Before you build a new offer or go looking for a new audience, look at the people who already put their hand up and then drifted off: the webinar sign-ups you never followed up, the enquiries that went cold, the people who comment on everything and never hear back, and the past clients who’d happily buy again if anyone thought to ask them.

One. Audit who’s actually there

What to do. Open your email list, your DMs and your client records, and sort everyone who has ever shown interest into three piles.

Hot: engaged in the last 90 days.
Warm: engaged 90 to 180 days ago, or a past client from six months or more back.
Cold: 180 days or more, or a past client from a year or more back.

You won’t message anyone yet. This is about finding out how many people you’ve been sitting on, and most people are surprised by the number, which is rather the point.

Why it works. You can’t sell to a list you’ve never looked at, and everything else this week runs off this one; skip it and you’ll default to the same five names you always message.

Two. Send the nine word email

What to do. Take ten people from your hot pile and send each of them this, and nothing else.

Subject: [First name]?

Hi [Name], are you still interested in [the specific thing they wanted]?

[Your name]

No link, no PS, no signature block and no update on what you’ve been up to. You’ll be tempted to add more, and that’s exactly the urge to sit on.

Why it works. It’s short enough to answer from a phone while the kettle boils, and it asks about them rather than announcing something about you. The specific thing they wanted is what makes it land, so it’s worth looking up rather than guessing.

Three. Send five voice notes to past clients

What to do. Pick five past clients from your warm pile and send each of them a voice note of twenty or thirty seconds, by Instagram DM, WhatsApp or a voice memo by email.

Hey [Name], it’s [your name].
I’m planning my [month] roster.
I was thinking about the work we did on [the specific thing].
I wondered whether you’d want to tackle [the next level] next.
No pressure, I just wanted to reach out.

Smile while you record it; it changes your tone, and people can hear it.

Why it works. A past client has already paid you and already got a result, so the hardest part of the sale is behind you. Your actual voice does something text can’t, and twenty seconds is short enough that it lands as a thought rather than a pitch.

Four. Ask the clarity question

What to do. Post it, or send it to the people who engage with you and have never bought. It’s one question, and what you’re looking for is who’s moving rather than who’s interested.

Are you actively working on [the outcome you help with] right now?

If yes, what’s the biggest thing slowing you down?

If not, no problem, just let me know.

Why it works. Interest and intent aren’t the same thing, and most people spend their week on the interested ones. The answers also hand you the exact words people use about their own problem, which is worth more than the replies.

Five. Do nothing new, and follow up

What to do. Send no new messages at all. Go back to everyone who replied to activities two, three and four and reply properly, with a curious question and, where it fits, the suggestion of a call. Then go back to the people who didn’t reply and send one short follow-up.

Why it works. Almost everyone sends the first message and stops, which is a shame, because the money’s in the second one, and a day spent entirely on follow-up usually beats a day of fresh outreach to people who’ve never heard of you.

What happens if you keep going

Any one of these will bring something in this week, and that’s the boost.

What it won’t do on its own is change how next month goes, because the follow-up sitting in your drafts was never a case of not knowing you should send it.

Revenue Empire is these five turned into a daily habit for two months, from 2 November to 31 December.

In week one we find your hidden leads together, work out what those people need now and reposition what you already sell so it’s what they want, and from there you sell a little every day. RevenueOS builds your daily actions around you, your offers and your revenue goal, and tracks every one of them. I’m on a live Q&A every Wednesday at 2pm, and there’s a private group of founders doing the same thing alongside you.

We start on Monday 2 November. Join us.
